Black & Decker 16-Cup Rice Cooker, White, RC436
The Black-Decker 16-Cup is an economical and practical electric rice cooker that offers the simplicity of a single-button machine. This small pot of rice eliminates guesswork by preparing perfect and fluffy rice. Like many other basic rice sprays on the market, this model automatically goes into heating mode once the rice is fully cooked.
The design is functional if it is not aesthetic. The inner pot holds up to eight cups of dry rice and can cook up to 16 cups of cooked rice. That's more than double the price of most rice cookers in the same price range. The lid is made of removable glass with a small vapor vent, and the pot has a condensate trap so that the water does not return to the rice. Basic rice cookers like this can get very hot. Be sure to use the side handles when handling the unit. When the rice is done, a light on the front of the rice cooker changes from hot to hot. At this point, you can only turn off the kitchen by unplugging it yourself.
A good feature of this basic model is the attached service spoon, which has a side latch to keep it close when needed. When serving the lid fits exactly on the same lock. This Black & Decker model is not just a rice. It contains an additional steamer that can sit on the inner pot to make vegetables or fish. The pot and basket are easily removable so you can store rice or vegetables in the fridge.
With every basic rice cooker, there is always an extra worry about the mess. Since the lid is removable, the steam tends to leave the fan during cooking, which causes more cleaning than with the more expensive rice cookers. Although it has a capacity of eight cups, we recommend not exceeding seven cups. This should alleviate the concerns with sizzling and overcooked rice in the bottom of the pot.
The Black-Decker 16-Cup is a functional rice cooker, although its features are very simple. In general, it is a decent and convenient rice cooker that is also affordable. It also has one of the biggest pots compared to other cheap rice cookers in the market.
